Clothes Suggested

As Patagonia is featured by low temperatures and strong winds, especially in Spring, it is recommendable to take: jackets, pants, raincoats, caps, polo shirts, sockets, thermal gloves, sun glasses and sunscreen, as well as including summertime clothes such as t-shirts and lighter shoes

Commerce

Working hours are through all day starting from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM with a break between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM . Commerce and hotels accept credit cards; however, cash Chilean pesos must be at hand for simple, daily things to buy in shops, ticket or transport

Banks and ATMs

Banks and ATMs are found in Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales. In Tierra del Fuego and Porvenir is an ATM and a bank in Cerro Sombrero.

            There are Money Exchange houses in Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales downtown, but they do not exist in the airport of Punta Arenas. There is only one ATM with Chilean currency

Buses

There is no general bus station in Punta Arenas. Each bus company works particularly selling tickets as “small bus station office”.

There is no bus sales office to get to Puerto Natales from the airport in Punta Arenas. Reservation and purchase must be made at each bus company office.

You may only charge fuel in the man cities and localities within the region. There are no service stations on the routes.

It is recommended to use official transport and consult on departure-arrival timetables

Parks and Reserves

Parks, reserves and natural monuments are managed by CONAF (National Forestry Corporation). It is important to observe rangers instructions within the parks and the wild protected areas. Do not light fires in non-authorized places neither abandon regulated facilities and footpaths, in order to avoid accidents and the expulsion from the wild area.

The camping sites and refuges inside Torres del Paine National Park demand a prior reservation to ensure the service.
